Competing in a beard competition can be an exhilarating experience, and York County, South Carolina is no exception. Contestants in the county have the opportunity to take part in five different categories, each with its own timeline. In this article, we'll explore the timeline for each category and provide some background information on the event. The five categories of the competition are: Beard, Fake Beard, Mustache, Partial Beard, and Creative Beard.
Each category has its own timeline and rules that must be followed.
Beard
- To compete in this category, contestants must grow a full beard for at least six months prior to the competition. The beard must be at least 8 inches long and must be groomed and styled for the competition.Fake Beard
- This category requires contestants to create a fake beard using materials such as yarn, fabric, or other materials. The fake beard must be at least 8 inches long and must be groomed and styled for the competition.Mustache
- Contestants must grow a mustache for at least six months prior to the competition to compete in this category. The mustache must be at least 4 inches long and must be groomed and styled for the competition.Partial Beard
- To compete in this category, contestants must grow a partial beard for at least six months prior to the competition.The partial beard must be at least 4 inches long and must be groomed and styled for the competition.
Creative Beard
- This category requires contestants to create a unique beard using materials such as yarn, fabric, or other materials. The creative beard must be at least 8 inches long and must be groomed and styled for the competition. The first annual beard and mustache contest in York County was held in February of 2020 at Bube's Brewery. Contestants from all over the county competed in the five categories listed above. Joseph Farrell from Pittsburgh won first place in the beard category with more than 8 inches of facial hair.Michelle Malmberg won second place in the fake beard category at the Keystone State Beard and Mustache Championship. In addition to competing in the five categories listed above, contestants also have the opportunity to take part in other events such as homemade cake competitions or cream cheese production competitions. Homemade cakes are still being made in Normandy, Picardy, Poitou and in some provinces in the south of France. At the same time, Reynolds bought another cream cheese production facility, the Empire Cheese Company of South Edmeston, New York.
Cream cheese became so popular that other dairies in the New York area began manufacturing a similar product. Students enrolled in charter schools authorized by the South Carolina Public Charter School District or in a higher education institution may also receive additional weights depending on their type of charter school they attend. South Carolina Educational Television provides training and technical support on educational resources available to teachers and school districts. The Executive Budget Office will make adjustments to spending authorization after reviewing contributions provided by departments.
